We pride ourselves on our global presence and the ability to build long-term business relationships with our customers.
Where is our company located?
Our company is located in Europe, but we have sales representatives and dealers in Canada and the United States.
How long are they available in Poland?
EZ Log structures were introduced to North America in 2010. In 2024, we began selling our buildings on the Polish market.
Where are EZ Log Structures kits manufactured?
The sets are manufactured in Europe, where we take care of the highest quality of our products. After the production process is completed, the sets are carefully packed and prepared for shipping. Our priority is to ensure safe and efficiently organized delivery to ensure our customers' satisfaction and convenience in the process of purchasing our products.
Design
Most Premium Cabins and Homes allow for minor modifications. You can change floor plans, increase or decrease the roof pitch, add windows and doors, and increase the height of walls by adding rows. Ornamental Garden Cabins cannot be modified because they are mass-produced.
What is the price for changing designs?
Fees will vary depending on the amount of materials required.
Can I order models according to individual requirements?
Yes, there are very few restrictions with this method of construction. If floor plans or sketches are provided we can provide a quote, usually within a few days.
Can I have sliding patio doors?
Of course! During production, you can cut holes into which you will later insert your patio doors or other doors. In the case of houses and cottages, it is recommended that customers buy the entrance doors themselves. The price of the door is then deducted from the price of the house. This brings many benefits; the customer can install doors adapted to the weather conditions in which they live, has a wider choice of styles and fittings, and also better access to spare parts.
Can I have an attached garage?
Yes, attached garages must start at the same level as the building they are attached to to allow for consistent shrinkage between the two buildings.
Can I install skylights?
Yes, locally purchased roof lights can be installed during or after installation.
Can I add windows or doors later?
Yes, each single wall model is made by cutting an opening and inserting a window. The window is held in place by the battens that connect the logs. A header is not required for solid wood walls. Adding windows or doors to an insulated model should be done by a professional.
Can I use my own windows and doors?
Yes. We then deduct their price from the building price and cut out the correct size holes for your windows and doors during production.
Information about our construction kits
Garden sheds made of logs ranging from 28mm to 40mm thick are mass produced and include: impregnated floor beams, tongue and groove floorboards, pre-numbered wall logs, windows, doors, keyed fittings, window and door finishing strips, skirting boards, pre-cut gables, purlins (beams), tongue and groove roof boards, skirting boards.
70mm log cabins and homes are manufactured to order and include: pre-numbered external and internal wall logs, external double glazed windows, doors, keyed fittings, finishing strips, internal doors with fittings and finishing strips, skirting boards, pre-cut gables, purlins (beams), tongue and groove roof boards, skirting boards, threaded rods for connections.
What is NOT included in a cabin or home kit?
Kit does not include electrical wiring, plumbing, cabinetry, exterior roofing, wall or ceiling insulation, window and door extension kits for insulated walls, foundation and related materials.
What type of wood is used?
The most commonly used wood is Scandinavian/Baltic Spruce (Picea-Abies), but Baltic Pine (Pinus Sylvestris) may be used in specific models. Both species are softwoods that grow in the cold climates of northern Europe. They are densely growing trees with rings 6 to 8 times larger than standard (SPF) spruce, pine or fir. Spruce has a denser grain with fewer knots than pine, but both are easy to work with and lightweight.
Is the wood kiln dried?
Yes, the raw materials are kiln dried to 16% moisture and during processing they are air dried to about 14%. This is the required moisture level to prevent splinters when making cross cuts at the joints.
Is the wood impregnated?
The wood is natural and has not been treated in any way. Apply a clear wood preservative as soon as possible, then apply a waterproofing or penetrating stain/paint. An oil base is better, and brushing it on is better than spraying it on as it helps the stain/paint penetrate the recesses of the wood. Research the material that is suitable for your local climate. Note: some penetrating stains can penetrate the logs and be visible inside.
Is there sealant between the logs?
Sealants are not required as the logs have a deep tongue and groove. In larger buildings, threaded steel rods or log screws are used through the walls to ensure the logs are watertight.
What is the R-value?
The softwoods we use have an R-value of 1.4 to 1.6 per inch of thickness. A 70mm thick log has an R-value of 4.4. To achieve the required R-value in the walls for specific regions, the walls are lined with 38 x 89mm or 38 x 140mm studs, with insulation placed between the studs. The R-value of the insulation and logs combined is higher than conventional construction and provides additional comfort due to the lack of conductivity through solid wood.
Do the kits meet building regulations?
If weather-related modifications are required, they are usually done free of charge. Additional charges may apply depending on the complexity of the modification.
Installation
Our building kits are very easy to assemble! Technical drawings show numbered components, their locations, size and quantity.
There are some differences between assembling the smaller and larger models.
Smaller models can be assembled with minimal construction knowledge. They are also easier to assemble because they have fewer parts.
Larger models have more components and require time to sort through them to determine where they go in the build.
It is worth emphasizing that no heavy equipment is required for installation - this is a great convenience!
TIP : To prevent warping of logs, do not open packages until ready to assemble. Keep packages off the ground and covered to prevent water damage. If a log is twisting and difficult to place, straighten one end and then use a large C-clamp as a lever to twist the log and drop it into place.
How to attach a building to the foundation?
The first two rows are attached to a concrete slab or wooden floor using anchors, screws or brackets.
TIP: Place a moisture barrier between the first row of logs and the foundation, whether it’s a concrete or wood subfloor. Home improvement stores carry moisture barriers, or you can use asphalt shingles. You can also use a flashing under the first row.
Do I need a building permit?
According to Polish law, no permit is required for buildings up to 70 m² (with a maximum of two storeys). However, cabins and houses larger than 70 m² require a permit.
How long does it take to install?
The assembly time of each model is different and depends on several factors such as the size of the building and the skills of the assemblers. The description of some models provides an estimated assembly time. For example, the Toledo E 7.3m x 12m residential house can be assembled by three people in 10 to 12 days.
Can buildings be moved?
Yes, but it is not recommended. Smaller models can be moved if the plywood is attached to the walls to prevent the logs from rolling and separating. Larger models require special care and should only be moved by qualified movers.
Can I connect a second building to an existing one?
No. The characteristic feature of natural wood products is volume changes, such as shrinkage. Attaching another building to an existing one does not allow the logs to shrink and settle.
Is it possible to dismantle buildings that have already been constructed?
Yes, but it is not recommended as they may be damaged and reassembly is difficult.
